I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here welcomes its new Sheila’s and Bruce’s into camp

I’M a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here was back on our TV screens this week with plenty of jungle delights set to test the celebrities in the bush tucker trials.

As always, the start of the show consisted of the awkward meetings between ‘celebrities’ as they realise they don’t recognise each other. There has been plenty of conjecture over who would enter the jungle this year but the final ten were:

Actor Nigel Havers; X Factor finalist Stacey Solomon; music legend Shaun Ryder; TV nutritionist Gillian McKeith, pop star Aggro Santas; ‘Playmate’ and model Kayla Collins; athlete Linford Christie; ex-wife of footballer Paul Gascoigne, Sheryl Gascoigne; politician Lembit Obik and actress Britt Ekland.

Gillian McKeith began by saying:

“I have a serious phobia to the possibility I could faint if I see a spider”

Something she may regret saying as the public will be the ones to choose who takes part in the bush tucker trials in the first week. Gillian may be at risk as she is sure to provide great entertainment during the trials. It begs the question why enter the jungle when you have such a phobia of insects?

After meeting, the contestants were informed by Ant and Dec that they would be competing against each other in a boys vs. girls set up.

All the contestants were made to complete a bush tucker trial before entering the two camps, named ‘Sheila’ for the girls and ‘Bruce’ for the boys.

The trial, named ‘terrorvision’ involved plenty of creepy crawlies and put each contestant head to head. The winners were given one last night of luxury in the villa while the losing team were sent into the jungle to a basic camp.

After Gillian McKeith was the first to shout: ‘Im a celebrity get me out of here’ in her bush tucker trial, against Shaun Ryder, the girls were trailing 0-2 but with Stacey, Sheryl and Britt all winning their trials the girls triumphed, sending the boys straight to the jungle.

After the first night all the contestants entered the camp. Four celebrities began their stay by skydiving into the camp, while the remaining six had to used a canoe. Nigel Havers provided the first entertainment by falling out of the canoe.

As the contestants entered their new camps, they found each decked out with a few creature comforts, including blue décor for Camp Bruce and pink for Camp Sheila.

After just one night the public vote decided which celebrity from each camp will be competing in the bush tucker trial ‘the crate escape.’ The public chose Lembit from Camp Bruce and, with no surprise, Gillian McKeith from Camp Sheila to go head to head to win their camp meals.
