A STUDENT and four teachers are battling it out to product the best facial hair for the Movember charity at Burnt Mill Academy in Harlow.
Teachers Luke Burrows, Alaric Cook, Philip Latchford and Khan Busby are taking part in growing moustaches throughout the month of November.
Year nine student Toms Xavi was keen to join in so is wearing a different stick-on moustache every day to raise awareness and money for the charity.
Luke Burrows, head of computer science and ICT at Burnt Mill Academy said, “Statistics say that prostate cancer kills more people than breast cancer, but it receives half the funding. We are talking about Movember in school and it acts as a way of bringing up conversations and discussions around those important topics which can only be a good thing.
“Working in a school, it felt even more appropriate to focus some attention onto mental health and suicide prevention as that’s so relevant for young people today.”
The Movember charity specialises in stopping men dying too young by encouraging them to talk more about prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide.
