STORIES came to life at Cooks Spinney Primary Academy as pupils celebrated Roald Dahl day.
The day was marked by an assembly on the life of one of Britain’s most treasured children’s authors. With the help of West End in Schools’ Bringing Books to Life program children partook in dance workshops where scenes from Charlie in the Chocolate Factory were acted out.
Magdalena Dackombe, year 6 teacher and literacy co-ordinator commented “The most important thing is for children to get inside the heads of the characters, to explore the books and to get excited about reading them. The day helped to open their minds a bit more.”
Pupils also participated in the Matilda’s New Classmate competition where they each designed a new character for the bestselling Roald Dahl classic Matilda.
