Roydon politics

HARLOW Conservative parliamentary candidate, Robert Halfon, visited pupils at Roydon Prmary Academy to explain Brexit and the approaching election.

The school invited Robert Halfon and Sky Yarlett, from the Houses of Parliament,  to talk to Key Stage 2 students  about Brexit, democracy and the role of an MP.

Mr Halfon met with the school’s student council and discussed how parliament functions. The former MP for Harlow even helped to introduce a new rewards system for the students after seeing their hard work.

Miss Yarlett alongside informing students about the function of parliament, held classes workshops for students on how to debate and how laws are passed.

Head teacher Michael Clark said “To speak to both Robert and Sky gave the children a wonderful opportunity to really understand what really happens inside the Parliament building and how laws are made democratically.”
