SACRED Heart Primary School, Ware, had to be evacuated last week due to a damaging fire.

The fire service was called at 4pm on Wednesday September 29 when the fire was first detected in the administration area.

On arrival, the fire service successfully controlled the blaze and no one was injured.

As it was the end of the school day, many parents and pupils had already left.

The head mistress, Michelle Fusi was quoted in HertsLive: “Remaining staff and an afterschool club on site were safely evacuated”

It is not yet known what the cause of the fire was, however the school will be closed for the rest of the week to allow the fire brigade to investigate. All families will be regularly updated.
