Harlow Mark Hall Academy webinar proves successful

YEARS nine, ten and eleven students at Mark Hall Academy were introduced to an online webinar to develop their writing skills.

Students discovered how to structure, paraphrase and use the right words at the right time with the use of comedy and jokes; they also found out how to apply these skills to exams and assignments.

This webinar was made possible with the help of the organisation Make Happen, which helps young people make decisions about their education and future.

Carrie Moore, assistant principal, said: “The number of students responding in the chat was fantastic. I can see a bright future as writers, influencers and comedians for many of the students who took part.”

Max, a year nine student in Mark hall Academy enjoyed this new way of learning and said: “My favourite part was when we discussed the different meanings of three words put together. The words were ‘mammoth’, ‘book’ and ‘sale’. The funniest one I remember was the idea of books selling mammoth books.”
