A RECENT statistic published by the National Education Union states that one in three teachers plan to leave the profession in the next five years. Two in three also state that the overall profession had declined in the last 12 months.
Due to the national lockdown first implemented in March of 2020, teaching institutions have had to dramatically alter their methods of delivering key lessons to students from home. The impact and stresses on staff is one of many factors why there is a growing outcry from people within the profession.
Journalist Joshua Candler-Jones spoke to Tom Xavier, a teacher at Leventhorpe School in Sawbridgeworth who says that the school is fully supportive of staff members in these unprecedented times, although he has seen an increase in teachers suffering from stress due to the lockdown.
